About us

The South Norfolk School Sport Partnership was established in September 2004, with Framingham Earl High School, a specialist sports college as the hub site. The partnership covers the majority of rural South Norfolk.

School Sport Partnerships are responsible for driving the school element of the 5 hour offer. Their role is to ensure that all 5-16 year olds have access to high quality physical education and sport in a school setting and that all 16-19 year olds have access to high quality sport in a college setting. The partnership is also responsible for creating the demand for all young people to continue sport in a community environment beyond school or college. It should forge meaningful relationships with community providers to ensure that the community sport reflects young people's demands and is appropraite and suitably engaging.

The Partnership has a fully committed Infrastructure team consists of a Partnership Development Manager Helen Dolding, working with a team of 7 School Sport Coordinators (SSCos) who in turn work with a team of 58 Primary Link Teachers (PLTs). These roles support and expand the partnerships work to create an energised culture throughout South Norfolk.

Our work focusses on meeting the Governments PSA target of pupils spending at least two hours in a typical week on high quality PE and School Sport. We are currently using the results of the 2008/2009 PE and School Sport Survey (PESSYP) to review our plans to ensure we are targetting the right young people and supporting all schools within the partnership.

Partnership Aims:

  • To create a new 5 hour offer for all 5-16 year olds. We will continue to increase the number of 5-16 year olds taking part in at least 2 hours high quality PE and sport each week, and create new opportunities for them to participate in a further 3 hours per week of sporting activity, through school, voluntary and community providers.

  • To Create new opportunities for all 16-19 year olds to participate in 3 hours of sport activities through their schools/ colleges or in local clubs.
