Young Leaders Award

Young Leader Award

South Norfolk School Sport Partnership will be again running, the Young Leader Award. The Young Leader Award is a programme of leadership training for young people between the ages of 9-13 that promotes them working with younger children, teaching leadership skills through a range of games and activities.

The young leaders ‘learn by doing’ and by the end of the course, will not only have the confidence and ability to lead others but will also have knowledge and experience of an extensive range of games and activities. The award takes approximately 6-10 hours of teaching time. This award can also be used to support and enhance delivery of the National curriculum at key stage 2 and 3 across a range of subject areas.

Benefits of doing the Young Leader Award:

  • Encourages young leaders to take responsibility for themselves and for those leading.
  • Helps to develop leadership skills such as communication, organisation and motivation.
  • Encourages working with others, planning and self review.
  • Supports the work of adults within the organisation.
  • Promotes integration and social inclusion.
  • Reduces problems associated with bullying and inappropriate behaviour.
  • Encourages cooperation and helps to develop moral and social skills.
