Description

PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS A LEVEL 2 EVENT ONLY (NO PROGRESSION TO A COUNTY FINAL)

Format:

The South Norfolk SSP Swimming Gala is open to students in Years 4, 5 & 6. Clusters are invited to bring a maximum squad of 32, with 1 male and 1 female from each year group entered in the following individual events:

* 25m Breaststroke

* 25m Backstroke

* 25m Butterfly (NO Y4 race for this stroke)

* 25m Freestyle

There will also be the inclusion of a 4x25m Frestyle relay and a 4x25m Medley relay for each year group, each consisting of 2 males and 2 females, as well as a 6x25m Cannon Freestyle Relay, with 1 male and 1 female from each year group participating.

SWIMMERS CAN ONLY COMPETE IN A MAXIMUM OF 2 INDIVIDUAL RACES PLUS 2 RELAYS

POOL STARTS - NO DIVING (ALL SWIMMERS MUST START IN THE WATER)

Timings:

12:00 pm     Arrival/Registration

12:30 pm     Warm Up

12:45 pm - 3:00 pm     Gala & Presentation

3:15 pm     Departure

Medals will be presented to winners of each individual race and certificates to 2nd and 3rd place competitors. A participation certificate proforma will be sent to schools.

Competitors will earn points depending on their finishing position in the race (i.e. 1st place = 7 points, 2nd place = 6 points, etc.). Points will then be added together to contribute towards a cluster total.

Chaning rooms:

The changing rooms at the Sportspark will be open to the public at the same time so it is vital that schools provide sufficient male/female members of staff to supervise their own pupils when changing.

Spectators:

Parents are invited to come along and spectate during the event. PLEASE NOTE – There is a 60p entrance fee to the Sportspark for spectators.

Please note that Schools are responisble for the transport, arrival and departure of their pupils. Schools should bring their own first aid kit and are responsible for the first aid to their students.

We use a variety of digital and social media to promote all of our events including our SSP website, Facebook/Twitter profiles however their will be no photos at this event
