Sportshall Athletics
The following schools from the Diss family cluster took part in the Sportshall Athletics competition held at Long Stratton Leisure centre on Monday 25th January: Diss Junior, Burston, Tivetshall, Bressingham St. Andrews, Garboldisham and Roydon. These schools were joined by Alburgh with Denton and Brockdish, St. Mary’s and Newton Flotman. Over 160 pupils were set a variety of physical challenges, vertical jump, speed bounce, standing long jump, chest throw and javelin and had great fun trying to improve their techniques for each of the skills. The morning finished with some relay races which the pupils thoroughly enjoyed (going by the screams of encouragement). The final positions of the competition were: Burston winning with 222 points followed by St. Mary’s, Roydon, Garboldisham, Bressingham, Newton Flotman, St. Andrews, Alburgh with Denton and Brockdish, Diss Church Junior, Forncett St. Peters, Tivetsahll.
Thanks must go to Sports Leaders from Diss High School, Stuart Brunton-Douglas (Competition Manger) and Ron Marsh for organising and leading the morning.
