A fun day at Diss High School

Diss Family Cluster Netball and Football skills and tournament day

Over 130 pupils visited Diss High School on Tuesday 23rd March to take part in a day full of action and fun. The day consisted of two sessions; in the morning the pupils from the primary schools had lots of enjoyment improving their basic skills in both netball and football and then tried to use these skills in the games played in the round robin tournament in the afternoon.

It was a day for the Sports leaders at Diss High School to be assessed for their Level 1 Sports Leaders Award. The leaders had to plan and deliver fifteen minute sessions covering shooting, footwork, getting free, passing and marking in netball and goal keeping, shooting, heading, passing and dribbling in football.

The winners of the netball tournament were Burston B, runners up was very closely contested with Tivetshall and Dickleburgh equal on points and Tivetshall goal difference was slightly better giving them second position and Dickleburgh third, followed by Roydon, Burston A, Scole and Garboldisham.

In the football competition the winners were Roydon A, runners up Roydon B, third Garboldisham, followed by Scole, Burston and Dickleburgh.

Thanks must go to Mrs Somers the teacher in charge of the Leadership courses run at the High School for her dedication and hard work; the leaders were a credit to her and themselves.
