Diss Family cluster Kwik Cricket tournament

Diss High School was host to the Kwik cricket tournament which took place on Thursday 20th May.

Over 80 year 5+6 pupils from seven of our feeder primary schools enjoyed the afternoon by playing some excellent cricket. It is a real team game where all pupils get the chance to contribute to the game by bowling, batting and fielding. It was fantastic to see so many pupils experiencing success by catching and bowling players out and scoring runs.

The sports leaders from the high school were superb considering this was their first event they had helped to lead on and helped to officiate, score and coach.

The tournament was played as a league format and some of the games were really close. In both leagues the number of runs scored had to be taken into account to decide the winning team. The winner from League 1 was Bressingham followed by Scole, Burston and Roydon B.

The winning team from League 2 was Garboldisham followed by Roydon A, Diss Junior and St. Andrews

The winners from the two leagues then played each other as did the runners up and 3rd and 4th place and the overall winners were Garboldisham followed by Bressingham, Roydon A, Scole, Diss Junior, Burston, Roydon B, St. Andrews.

A certificate was presented to the Most improved player from each of the participating schools: Kate Jackson- Burston, Emma Rogers – St. Andrews, Oliver Wilmshurst – Bressingham, Bradley Dyer- Scole, Kieran Manning – Roydon A, Sam Joy – roydon B, Sophie Hollingsworth – Garboldisham, Thomas Knapp – Diss Junior.

Both Garboldisham and Bressingham will represent the Diss family cluster in South Norfolk School Sport Partnership on June 10th at Great Melton Cricket Club.
