South Norfolk School Sport Partnership has secured funding to provide its member schools with FREE Bikeability Cycle Training for pupils in Yr 5, 6 and 7 during the 2011/12 academic year. Please read on to find out more about Bikeability and what you need to do next to apply for free courses in your school.
What is Bikeability?
Bikeability cycle training was launched in 2007 and is the Government’s flagship cycling training programme, designed to give people the skills and confidence to ride on today’s roads.
Why is Bikeability Different?
The aim is for half a million children to be Bikeability trained within England by 2012 and the ultimate vision is that no child should leave primary school without the opportunity to take part in Bikeability training.
Bikeability Levels
There are three Bikeability levels;
A child can start Bikeability lessons once they have learnt to ride a bike (Level 1), with 10-11 year olds progressing through to Level 2, and then Level 3 at secondary school (11-18 years).
FREE Bikeability Cycle Training for Schools
