Year 2, Term 1 – Results in!

Active Norfolk have now received all the monitoring for the first term of Year 2.

They are delighted to advise that together, in term 1, we engaged a total of 2902 young people and from this amount we retained 2400 which is a retain figure of 83%

Congratulations to Breckland, Lynn Grove, Norfolk FA, West Norfolk Borough Council and FITC who all obtained a percentage retain of 95% and above.

Also, a special mention for East Norfolk SSP, West Norwich & Dereham SSP and South Norfolk SSP who topped the table in attracting the most amount of participants to their activities.

These results are very positive and are down to the hard work and organisation of all agencies involved. Whilst the retain figure was slightly lower than our term target, we have achieved over a third of our Year 2 target set by Sport England.

Retain targets

It is great news to know that the participants who are engaging in activities have a high retain rate.

One aspect that Active Norfolk would like to improve on is moving forward and for more agencies to meet their retain targets entered in initial applications as they are noticing that a number of activities are falling short of these numbers.

Whilst the applications in general are very good, we are aware in some cases retain numbers are raised to reduce the cost per head. Please can we ask you to ensure that any figures in your applications are realistic and you are targeting and publicising your activities to attract as many participants as possible.

Sustainability

One of the major aspects of Sport Unlimited projects is to ensure that they provide a sustainable link for participants to continue the activity past the funding period.

Working with SIRC, (Sheffield International Research Centre) Active Norfolk has volunteered to assist for a second term with a sustainability study. We have been supplied with 250 exit poll postcards that are designed to assess young people’s intentions to join clubs or continue their participation after the 8 – 10 week taster sessions finish. Katie Flatman will be in contact with agencies during the delivery period to arrange for the completion of these postcards and your assistance is appreciated where requested, to provide the data to SIRC for their evaluation.
