PE and Sport CPD Opportunities 2009-2010

Our Commitment to Quality:

We are dedicated to delivering high quality PE to all young people in Norfolk schools. A vital part of this commitment is the provision of high quality continued professional development opportunities for staff across all key stages. Our courses continue to be highly rated – 100% as satisfactory or better over the last three years.

This booklet lists all the planned County courses for teachers, TA’s and all other staff supporting learning in our schools. These courses are accredited through the County Council and are organised by the PE, Sport and Physical Development Service.

We also work closely with other partners, including the vast majority of the School Sports Partnerships where we deliver aspects of their CPD programme. Emphasis this year with them has been the High Quality PEAward training and support. This Award recognises the hard work of schools and in particular PE subject leaders and is also attracting national attention.

The courses listed here reflect national and regional priorities as well as essential courses such as health and safety. To book onto any of the attached courses, simply use the booking form enclosed with this flier. Should it be missing then a copy can be found on the PE website:

Whole School Training A new drive and commitment

As a Service we have run a large number of CPD courses in the past, working with on average 3650 teachers per annum. During this time we have remain consistent to the need to support schools with whole staff training, INSET and the provision of such developmental tools as team teaching.

We are pushing this even more at present as we have grown aware of the need to try and ensure consistency and the effective dissemination of course information across all staff teaching and supporting PE. We are also committed to keeping teachers in schools – teaching wherever possible.

We have seen a significant increase in uptake of this training medium and are incredibly keen to continue this as the impact is whole school. Attached to this flier is an INSET enquiry form which schools can use to request contact regarding the optimum delivery of whole staff training. If this is something which you feel would benefit and impact on standards within your school then please use it to make an enquiry. This does not commit you to anything but opens a dialogue between us to ensure that your needs are met and the agreed outcomes achieved. We look forward to supporting you and delivering your outcomes
