A variety of athletic activities were offered to over 60 Year 3 + 4’s at Long Stratton leisure centre. Pupils were given the opportunity to practice the speed bounce, vertical jump, target throw, standing long jump, chest throw, javelin, hi stepper and balance beam. It really tested and improved their agility, balance and coordination.
The event finished with some relays which the pupils clearly enjoyed (lots of jumping up and down and screaming).
For the majority of pupils these activities were new to them and they had a fantastic afternoon, lots of smiley faces and a real sense of achievement.
Athletic coaches Paul Evans (Olympian champion in Marathon) and Barry Palmer (Diss Athletic Club) were on hand to help officiate and coach the pupils.
Thanks must go to Sport Leaders from Archbishop Sancroft High School and Diss High School who helped to lead the various activities and did a marvellous job.
The event was won by Alburgh with Denton from the Archbishop Sancoft cluster, finishing second was Burston and third Garboldisham.
All pupils were given a certificate of participation.
