Over 300 year 3+4 pupils ran their hearts out at Diss Rugby Club on Tuesday 9th March. The course was 1150m for the year 3’s race and 1400m for the year 4’s race, and all pupils running ran with such determination.
The venue allowed the pupils to run a complete course rather than repeated laps which they are used to practicing on at their schools; twenty two schools took part: Alburgh with Denton, Banham, Bressingham, Brooke, Burston, Dickleburgh, East Harling, Garboldisham, Hapton, Kenninghall, Loddon Junior, Old Buckenham, Poringland, Rockland St. Mary, Roydon, Saxlingham, St. Andrews, St. Mary’s, Surlingham, Tivetshall.
The top ten pupils selected from the year 4 race for boys and girls to represent the South Norfolk School Sport Partnership at Taverham Hall on Wednesday 17th March are:
Tom Greenacre – Poringland, Jan McCulties - Alburgh With Denton, Reggie Edwards –Saxlingham, Natty Strange – Dickleburgh, Shea Bonilla-Allard –Surlingham, Huey Turner-Saint - East Harling, Ted Mark-Barker -East Harling,Alex Hilbourn - Alburgh With Denton, Ralph Slaney –Garboldisham, George Watts- St Mary's, Cheyanne Bloomfield - Loddon A, Isobel Woods – Porlingland, Charlotte Santander –Saxlingham, Katie Halmshaw –Kenninghall, Erika Cole -East Harling,Emma Honey –Roydon, Madeline Hall –Porlingland, Felicity Hall-Kenninghall, Hannah Shea - Kenninghall, Aimee Gardiner –Roydon.
The overall winners for the competition was very close with Banham finishing 3rd and joint winners East Harling and Poringland.
Thanks must go to Diss High School sports leaders who help to marshal the course and a special thank you to the administrators Charlotte Catalano, Sarah Woods, Jessie Withers, without these leaders the event could not have taken place.
