South Africa World Cup Football Festival

Sixteen schools from the South Norfolk School Sport Partnership took part in a world cup football festival held at Wymondham High School on Tuesday 22nd June.

It was a fantastic morning with over 230 six and seven year olds trying to emulate the sixteen teams competing in the world cup.

Sports Leaders from Diss High School and Wymondham High School helped to deliver the skill sessions based on dribbling, passing and shooting. Each session started off with a fun warm up followed by specific skills, these leaders then became the team managers for the fun games.

It was great to see pupils applaud good play and shake hands at the end of every match, their smiling faces and boundless energy could not conceal their desire to do their very best for their country!

As part of the Junior Football Organisers Award three pupils from Diss High School planned the warm ups, skills sessions and mini games at the end.

So a very special thank you and congratulations to Joe Seaman, Kai Hines and Charlie Webb as all three have now successfully completed their qualification.

Staff from Football in the Community officiated the fun games and awarded the pupils with participation certificates at the end of the festival.

The following schools took part: Hethersett - England, Loddon Junior - Argentina, Dickleburgh – Nigeria and South Africa, Stoke Holy Cross - Australia, All Saints – Germany, Aslacton – Holland, Hapton – Portugal, Banham - New Zealand, Hempnall – Spain, Brazil and Italy, Garboldisham- Mexico, Spooner Row - South Korea, St.Andrews USA, and Thurton- Ivory Coast.
