Primary Event Leadership Award

What is the Event Leadership Award?

The School Games Event leadership award aims to provide an additional leadership pathway for pupils in primary school at our School Games events and experiences. It is hoped that by devolving responsibility to young leaders it will maximise young people’s involvement in shaping a fun and meaningful offer to engage new and existing audiences and help with the inclusion of target groups.

 How to get involved?

  1. Download the resources and share information on the programme with school staff and pupils.
  2. Identify a group or groups of pupils you would like to complete the award at our events. Not someone who is taking part in the activity.
  3. Pupils to collect an official School Games Leadership Lanyard at events and complete 1 of the 6 leadership roles.  Each of your School Games leadership roles will look very different and will depend on skills/interests as well as format.
  4. Encourage and empower your School Games leaders to be creative and to come up with their own ideas of what would be most effective.
  5. Throughout the academic year pupils aim to complete all 6 leadership roles.
  6. At the end of each event the leadership award certificates will be handed out and pupils will be celebrated.
  7. Schools to share the success of the programme with us on social media @SouthnorfolkSSP or via email to [email protected]

Who is the Award aimed at?

The award has been designed to be flexible so schools can target  pupils they feel would benefit most from completing it. This could be “sporty” pupils who may be interested in coaching/officiating, or less active pupils in order to engage them in PE lessons by taking on a different role.

Benefits

  • Supports pupils to understand they are an integral part of the workforce at School Games Experiences.
  • Pupils will develop a range of leadership and life skills including- communication, decision making, negotiating, organisation, evaluating and reporting.
