Description

Year 5-6 School Games ENGAGE Learning and Discovery Festival. The learning and discovery festival is part of the inclusion 2020 project set up by the YST, which focuses on inspiring pupils- with or without SEND- to play and enjoy unified sport together, and challenge attitudes and perceptions of disabilities.

 

Outcomes for young people in this festival include:

Raising aspirations of young people with and without additional needs- and those that support them- to realise their potential in and through physical education and sport.Inspiration: providing opportunities for young people to participate in new inclusive activities, encouraging life-long participation.

 

Format

Entry is open to all schools. Maximum of 6 schools per session with a maximum of 10 pupils per school.

 

Each festival will comprise of 5 inclusive sports stations including (Athletics, Badminton, New Age Kurling, Seated Volleyball) and 1 break out station which will provide a more formal opportunity for pupils to work on skills, engage in informal play and form new friendships.

Risk Assessment

By booking to take part in this event you agree that you have read and understand the contents of the event risk assessment and the safeguarding and responsibilities form/ Event guide. Please note that schools are responsible for the transport, arrival and departure of their pupils. Schools should bring their own first aid kit and are responsible for the first aid of their students.

 

Photography/ videos

We use a variety of digital and social media to promote all our events including our SSP website and Twitter profiles. By booking onto this event, you are agreeing to our photo policy. It is the responsibility of the participating school to ensure that they have asked parents/guardian for permission for photos and videos of all participants to be taken by SSP staff or official event photographers. Please ensure you make the SSP staff aware of any children without photo/ video consent prior to the start of the event. These children will be asked to wear a yellow armband throughout the event which will indicate that no photographs/ videos should be taken of them.

Safeguarding

Schools are reminded to follow guidelines in the SSP Event Guide handbook.  

Spectators

Unfortunately, parents are unable to spectate during the event.
