Diss Primary Cluster KS1 Dance Festival

Diss Primary Cluster KS1 Dance Festival

Over two hundred and forty pupils from our feeder primary schools attended our annual Dance Festival.

It was brilliant to watch them get so involved and have so much fun.

All pupils were taught a routine consisting of jumps, turns, slides, shimmies plus many more and did really well coordinating them.

The Higher Sports Leaders from Diss High School planned, led and choreographed the routine as part of the leadership course and did an amazing job, with the support of the Dance coach.

These leaders then taught the routine to some of our Dance Leaders who helped teach the routine to the young people.

Once the routine had been learnt the young people performed their routine in front of all of the other children and staff.

The day was a great success.

This day helped to build self-confidence  from both Sports Leaders delivering their routines to the actual pupils taking part. For example a pupil from one of the primaries could not cope with working in a large, noisy area and initially did not take part but halfway through our leaders managed to get her totally involved in the rest of the day and eventually performed in from of the whole audience.

All pupils taking part were given a certificate for participating and on the back of this were contact numbers of local dance clubs.
