The first big SSP sports event of this academic year saw 22 school teams take part in our annual cross country hosted at Langley School.
The pupils ran 1000m year 3, 1200m year 4, 1400m year 5 and 1600m year 6 in some very cold conditions however they all did very well! With their teams cheering them on at the start and when they could see them towards the end of their races. The runners all showed great detemination to do their best and not stop until they crossed the finish line. There were some outstanding races throughout the event with some close finishes. Big congratulations to the top three pupils in each race who all received medals and certificates.
This year also saw the introduction of our team competition with pupils from each school scoring points for their team. The winning school this year was Ashleigh Primary School with Loddon and Robert Kett close behind in second and third.
Schools were also provided with 2 sportsmanship awards to present to 2 pupils in their school team who had displayed the six School Games Values. Well done to all pupils who were nominated. All pupils who attended the day will receive a certificate of participation.
A massive thanks must go to Langley School for allowing us to use their facilities, to the staff and leaders for supporting the event. A massive thanks must also go to Hobart High School leaders who led warm ups, recorded results and marshalled the course.
