First SSP Panathlon Challenge Events

On Monday 13th December we held two SSP Panathlon Multi Skills Competitions at Framingham Earl High School. The events targeted pupils with a Special Educational Need or Disability (SEND) and aimed to give more pupils the opportunity to represent their school in competitive school sport.

The events were run in partnership with the Panathlon Foundation, a national charity that provides sports opportunities for children with a disability and special need.

In the morning. we held a competition for pupils in years 7-9. Five teams from three different schools from across South Norfolk School Sport Partnership took part, competing in eight sporting activities, with Archbishop Sancroft Cream team taking the honour of becoming our first ever Xtend Panathlon gold medallists.

In the afternoon it was the turn of year 3-6 pupils from five primary schools including Wicklewood Primary, Dickleburgh Primary, Morley Primary, Ellingham Primary and Tacolneston Primary. All Pupils took part in a carousel of sports skill challenges where they scored points for their team. In a very close contest Tacolneston Primary became our first ever Panathlon Challenge gold medallists.

It was great to see pupils enjoying the event and having fun. A big thank you to Howard from the Panathlon foundation who trained our leaders and ran the event on the day. A big thanks to Diss High School Sixth Form leaders who delivered and supported the participants throughout the day.

If your child took part in the event and would like to continue to be active outside of school, please visit our club section for a list of local opportunities.
