Quadkids a Hit!

The annual Year 3/4 Quadkids Athletics competition for the South Norfolk SSP schools took place on Monday 25th April at the UEA, Sportspark. 90 children participated and 9 teams from 9 different primary schools took part, including Brooke, Wreningham, Poringland, Loddon, Morley, Dickleburgh, Trowse, Preston and Spooner Row. The event was expertly supported by 15 Year 9 Old Buckenham High School sport leaders.

The Quadkids format enables children of primary school age to have fun participating in the core disciplines of running, jumping, and throwing. All athletes completed a quadrathlon, competing in four events; the sprint 50 metres, the run 400 metres, the standing long jump and the vortex howler throw. Results were recorded and totalled to find the best all-round teams. The children had a great time and there were some high quality performances

During the competitions, the Spirit of the Games value of Determination was a focus area and a young athlete from each team was presented with a special certificate to recognise their determination displayed throughout the competition.

Congratulations to Spooner Row who took the team honours in the Year 3/4 competition. Wreningham were close behind, taking runners-up spot.

Congratulations to all pupils who participated in the event, coaches and teachers who helped make the event go so well and a fun afternoon for all involved. A massive thank you to the leaders from Old Buckenham High School for recording scores, time keeping.
