Competitons

We have designed a range of virtual competitions and personal best challenges for pupils in primary and secondary schools for the spring term. For each competition there is a resource card which explains the competition plus a feeedback form.

Primary

Aims of the Virtual Competitions

• To develop the spirit of the School Games values.

• To learn new skills at an appropriate level.

• To develop good role models.

• Working as a team (virtually) within school groups.

• To provide a safe, supportive, creative, and challenging environment.

• To provide leadership, and responsibility in challenging times.

• Clear goals for achievement and recognising personal best.

• Positive feedback for young people

How to get your school involved

  1. SGO will send virtual packs for schools to deliver challenges.
  2. Familiarise yourself with the challenges.
  3. Take some time to practice the skills before recording your scores.
  4. Once your pupils feel confident, record their scores using the guidance within virtual packs.
  5. Submit your entries to your school teacher. 
  6. Monitoring Forms should only be submitted by school staff.
  7. All pupils who take part in the virtual events will receive a certificate on completion of the challenges.

Covid-19 Safety

All SSP virtual competitions should be completed in accordance with your schools Covid-19 PE policy.

Risk Assessment

It is the responsibility of each school to assess the risk for participating in the challenges within their own school.  It is the responsibility of schools to ensure that any space and equipment used is suitable for the challenge being attempted.

Safeguarding and Photo Consent

All SSP virtual competitions should be completed in accordance with your schools safeguarding and photo consent policy.
