SSP Virtual Events Summer Term 2021

South Norfolk School Sports Partnership wants to inspire young people about the upcoming Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo. We are asking schools to get involved in the programme of activities in the Summer Term. The events are non-competitive and focus on targeting pupils who would benefit from being more physically active. We wanted to create opportunities and experiences that young people will enjoy. The challenges included in the resources will be skill based but if your school wanted to add an intra competition based on the event further resources can be found on the Your School Games website.

There will be one Olympic and Paralympic sports activity challenge released each week for schools to take part in. The challenges can be completed any time during PE lessons, during active breaks, or even during extra-curricular clubs. Culminating in a mini-Olympic themed School Games Day on your school site. Date to be submitted on the Your School Games Website.

South Norfolk SSP believes the School Games has a vital part to play in the active recovery of children, where their health and wellbeing is prioritised through positive experiences and competition. Active recovery is central to supporting young people adjust to being back at school as it improves their mental wellbeing and resilience. Providing young people returning to school, these opportunities for fun, play and connection will help young people build confidence and recover. The School Games supports the wider development of young people.

We aim to inspire young people to be physically active for life through positive experiences of daily activity and competition.

Each Virtual Challenges will follow one of our new event themes; Engage, Develop and Compete. They will help us to clarify the purpose of each event and support schools to identify the pupils that will benefit the most from attending.

Resources coming soon 19th April 2021.
