Netballers show their skills!

On Wednesday 18th May, pupils from across South Norfolk took part in our Year 4-6 Bee Netball Competition at the UEA, Sportspark. This year’s competition aimed to give more pupils the opportunity to represent their school in a School Games experience. We wanted to provide pupils with an opportunity to experience competitive netball matches against pupils from other local schools. With one or our aims being to empower young people to develop their understanding of the School Games Values. All teams were tasked with selecting two pupils from their school who they believed had shown Honesty and Respect throughout the day.

After a short briefing regarding the rules, format of the day and most importantly our Spirit of the Games campaign. All teams were ready and eager to go from the outset and it was clear that all teams were well prepared, organised on the court and confident.

The tournament consisted of 2 pools with teams playing a group round robin. Teams finishing in the corresponding places then played one final match against each other. The atmosphere throughout the day was amazing and it was fantastic to see so many of the pupils smiling, having fun, and enjoying playing netball with their friends. After some really close round robin matches. The final was between two strong teams, Wreningham Vipers and Morley, who had both topped their groups. The final was closely contested with Wreningham Vipers victorious with only 10 seconds to spare.

I would like to congratulations all players who participated in the tournament, coaches and teachers who helped make the competition go so well and a fun day for all involved.

If your child took part in the competition and would like to continue to participate in netball outside of school then check out www.everymove.uk

Both events were supported by sports leaders from Framingham Earl High School who were all excellent all day. Without their help we wouldn’t have been able to provide this type of opportunity for younger pupils.
