Fore! Tri Golf Festival

Bungay Golf Club hosted our Tri-golf festival on Monday 22nd May; the event was supported by Chris Potter (golf professional), Lil and Jeremy (Junior Golf Coaches) and sports leaders from Diss High School.

200 children from 16 different schools in year 2-4 took part in our School Games Tri-Golf Festival.

It was a great morning and afternoon as the children got to try out nine different Tri-Golf skills challenges. The pupils tried their hand at various chipping and putting challenges and even had the chance to experience hitting a real golf ball under the watchful eye of Chris and had a putting skills circuit run by Lil and Jeremy. It was great to see the progress made across the festivals as some of the children who had never played Tri-Golf before or even been to a School Games event picked up the skills & techniques really quickly.

This festival focussed on the School Games Values (Honesty, Determination, Passion, Self-Belief, Respect and Teamwork), which is a concept introduced by the School Games to help introduce & promote personal skills, teamwork and fair play. Each of the stations was linked with one of the School Games Values and stickers were awarded to the players from each team who demonstrated the value at that station. We had a lot of happy children who all proudly displayed the stickers they had won throughout the day.

All activity stations were superbly marshalled by the students from Diss High School who did an amazing job of supporting, encouraging & guiding the young pupils through a sport many were trying for the first time. Big thank you to these leaders.

We cannot say a big enough 'thank you' to Chris Potter, Lil and Jeremy from Bungay Golf Club who took on the massive task of helping to delivering this event. The golf club who hosted the event also provided lots of helpful information to the pupils about how to continue playing golf in the local community and provided all pupils with a free taster session, golf ball and golf tee. THANK YOU!
