Dynamos Cricket a hit with schools

An introduction to competitive cricket was relished by primary school pupils this week with events at Great Melton Cricket Club and Hethersett and Tas Valley Cricket Club. Which saw over 200 youngsters taking part.

South Norfolk SSP hosted two Dynamo cricket events one mixed event and one girls only event for year 5-6 with 22 teams representing 14 schools which include Browick Road, Preston, Saxlingham, Loddon, Morley, Tacolneston, Wreningham, Carleton Rode, Forncett, Spooner Row, Hempnall, Woodton, Poringland and Trowse.

Dynamos is for 8-11 year olds with everyone on the team getting to bat and bowl. Leaders from Wymondham College and Framingham Earl umpired and scored the matches with Norfolk Cricket Board providing support.

"It is was great for schools to play against each other and they loved being part of their school team"- Teacher.

The winning teams at Great Melton Mixed Cricket Event were Wreningham and Loddon Primary. The winning schools from Hethersett and Tas Valley Girls event were Tas Valley Federation and Wreningham. Congratulations to these 4 teams who will go on to represent South Norfolk at the County Finals at the end of the month.

A special mention must also go to the winners of the School Games Value Awards for Team work. Each school nominated one team player throughout out the day and they were celebrated at the end of the event.
