Diss Cluster KS1 Dance Festival

On Friday 9th February over 300 children from 8 different infant and primary schools took part in the annual Diss Cluster key stage 1 dance festival held at Diss High School. Due to the popularity of the event, morning and afternoon session were held. The aim of the festival was to give the children an opportunity to perform on a big stage with bright lights alongside their friends. They all did amazing!

Each session started with a fun warm up dance led by the sports leaders. The children loved being giraffes, elephants, crocodiles and tigers. The children then watched an amazing performance, which had been beautifully choreographed by Diss High School higher sports leaders. The leaders then taught the dance in sections before putting the whole routine together. After practising their routines all schools were invited up onto stage to perform their dance. It was lovely to see some of the children step out of their comfort zone and enjoying themselves.

I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the leaders who helped on the day. They all worked extremely hard before and during the event to ensure that, the dancers were ready for their performance and had a positive experience. Many of the accompanying staff from the schools commented on how well they supported the children and did a great job of encouraging, engaging and inspiring them.

Participation certificates were awarded to all the children who attended the dance festival. They should all be extremely proud of their accomplishments.
