Diss Cluster KS2 Athletics Festival

On Monday 11th June over one hundred pupils from Dickleburgh and Scole attended our annual Years 3-6 athletics festival at Diss High School.

The pupils had lots of fun learning new skills in a variety of throwing, running and jumping events. They were able to try triple jump, long jump, discus, javelin, shot putt, relays, sprinting and hurdles. It was fantastic to see them enjoy the challenges set before them and to watch how quickly they improved during the afternoon.

The year 8 sports leaders from Diss High School helped to coach the young people and were brilliant at encouraging and improving the techniques for all pupils in all of the events taught. The sports leaders were very good at giving the pupils specific points to think about when trying to run, jump and throw and the rate of improvement was huge. These leaders were instrumental in making the afternoon such a success.

At the end of the event the pupils were presented with certificates and encouraged to try and attend local athletic clubs.
