The EDP and Golden Mile team would like to invite you and your pupils to join them with Olympic Gold Medallist Duncan Goodhew in a special awards ceremony to celebrate your schools fantastic achievements in the EDP Golden Mile challenge.
The awards will be held at the UEA Sports Park on 23rd June and will bring together all Norfolk schools that have participated in this year’s Golden Mile. The overall winning Primary and Secondary schools will receive £250 worth of sporting equipment from Golden Mile sponsors Premier Sport. Plus all schools that attend are eligible for a free day of sports coaching from one of Premier Sports team of qualified instructors.
There will be Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in the following categories
-Most miles walked by a school (Primary & Secondary)
-Most Miles walked by an individual class (Primary & Secondary)
-Most Miles walked by an individual pupil (Primary & Secondary)
-Most Miles walked by a school in the DKHLTrust fundraising week (W/B 7th June)
-Most Miles walked by a class during the DKHLTrust fundraising week
-Most Miles Walked by an individual during DKHLTrust fundraising week
-Most Money raised for the school during DKHLTrust fundraising week
-Special achievement award
The event is not just to celebrate those that have accomplished the most miles this celebration is open to all pupils that have participated in the Golden Mile over the course of the year.
Each pupil attending will receive a
-Golden Mile certificate of attendance signed by Duncan Goodhew OBE
-Golden Mile Medal
-Golden Mile 2010 challenge wristband
As well as the awards we have scheduled a number of races for participating schools to take part in, including a fun race with some of the School Sport Partnership Bears. Your pupils have achieved some amazing milestones throughout this project and we would like the opportunity to celebrate those achievements. All children will need to bring on the day is clothing suitable for PE and plenty of energy for the final races of the Golden Mile Challenge 2010. Parents are also welcome at the event and will be able to take part in some of the races we have planned. The whole event will be covered and feature in the Eastern Daily Press.
If your school would like to participate then please reply to this email saying your school would like to take part in the event. We will not need to know attendee’s names until one week before the event but an idea of numbers would be appreciated. Remember if you haven’t already registered for your fundraising packs you can do so by replying to this email. Your school does not need to take part in the fundraising activity to attend this event.

Remember there is no limit on the amount of children you can bring to this event the more the merrier it’s a celebration!
