600 pupils take part in SSP Cross Country

On Wednesday 2nd of November saw 600 children from 25 schools take part in our annual cross country hosted at Langley School.

The pupils ran 1000m year 3, 1200m year 4, 1400m year 5 and 1600m year 6. The runners showed great determination and self-belief to do their best and not stop until they crossed the finish line. The atmosphere throughout the event was amazing with pupils cheering loudly for their teammates.

There were some outstanding races throughout the event with some close finishes. Big congratulations to the top three pupils in each race who all received medals and certificates. This year was our second year of running a team competition with pupils from each school scoring points for their team. The winning school team this year was Wicklewood Primary School with Loddon Junior and Ashleigh Primary close behind in second and third.

Schools were also provided with 2 sportsmanship awards to present to 2 pupils in their school team who had displayed the School Games Value self-belief. Well done to all pupils who received these awards. All pupils who attended the day will receive a certificate of participation.

A massive thanks must go to Langley School for allowing us to use their facilities, to the staff and leaders for supporting the event. A massive thanks must also go to Hobart High School leaders who led warm ups, recorded results and marshalled the course.
