Year 9-10 Handball

Tuesday 6th February saw 8 teams across South Norfolk compete in the School Games Handball event. An exciting event ensued as pupils aged 13-15 took part throughout the afternoon. The targeted group for this event was year 9-10 boys who are competitive in nature and enjoy performing and competing against others. This event took place at the UEA, Sportspark.

The venue came alive with the sound of cheering and camaraderie as the schools battled it out to become champions. Matches were highly contested and closely fought for, often coming down to the last couple of minutes!

The event was split into 2 pools of 4 teams with teams then having one final match against the team finishing in the corresponding position in the other group to determine final positions.

Results:

1. Framingham Earl 1

2. Framingham Earl 2

3. Diss 1 and Long Stratton 1

4.Wymondham College 1

5. Wymondham College 2

6. Long Stratton 2

7. Diss 2

Congratulations to all the teams who took part. It was a brilliant afternoon with a great atmosphere throughout and fantastic performances on show from all schools and teams involved.

Thank you to staff members who refereed all the matches and helped support and encourage the players throughout the games. The mission of the School Games is ‘Keeping competitive sport at the heart of schools and providing more young people with the opportunity to compete and achieve their personal best’. I hope these pupils now go on to the local Norwich Handball club.
