Tag Rugby Mega Fest

On Thursday 18th April the sun was shining for our year 5/6 Tag Rugby Mega Fest. We welcomed 16 primary schools and over 300 children to Wymondham Rugby Club. Schools attending included: Wreningham, Robert Kett, Dickleburgh, Carleton Rode, Garboldisham, Browick Road, Tas Valley Federation, St Marys Junior, Spooner Row, Loddon, Alburgh, Pulham, Hempnall and Brooke.

The morning saw the children take part in 8 tag rugby activities. These activities were designed to help the children understand the basic skills needed to play tag rugby and start to understand the basic rules. There were lots of smiling faces, laughter and pupils having a fun time learning new skills with their teammates.

In the afternoon each school was split into two teams. Each team took part in a 4 team round robin with all teams playing each other in their group. School teachers looked out for pupils in their team who displayed the School Games Value ‘Self-Belief’ and these pupils were celebrated at the end of the event. A massive congratulations to the pupils who took on leadership roles for their primary school with some becoming team managers and reporters.

A massive thank you to our leaders from Wymondham College who ran the activities and refereed throughout the day. The year 9 sports leaders did an incredible job, they showed great maturity and initiative and undertook their roles with growing confidence throughout the day, we were delighted with them.

A thank you also goes to Kimberley who helped organise and run the day. A big thank you to Wymondham Rugby Club for hosting this event and letting us use your fantastic facilities. It was great to see so many children enjoying the game of rugby today and getting the opportunity to take part at a big club such as Wymondham RUFC.
