Mini Tennis Festival Inspires youngsters

On Thursday 10th March we held our first South Norfolk SSP Tennis Festival at Easton Tennis Centre. 300 children took part. This was the first time the children had represented their primary school in a tennis event and for many it was their first visit to a community club – playing on indoor courts was a real treat too!

Children learnt to rally using both forehands and backhands, to understand the bounce and flight of the ball and moving in complex sequences.

Class teachers accompanying the children at the event were actively engaged in developing the children’s skills and identified players who excelled in the School Games Values. At the end of the festival School Games Values certificates were awarded to pupils from the schools whose team members excelled in the values of Self Belief and Passion.

Teacher Quotes:

“Very well organised, thoroughly enjoyable for the children. “Today’s event encouraged a high level of participation in physical activity in a fun environment.”

Pupil Quotes:

“We got to learn how to play tennis, the people helping where brilliant”. “Quite challenging but fun I wish it could be longer.”

Big thanks to the leaders from Old Buckenham High School who were brilliant at leading the activities throughout the day. Also thanks to Easton Tennis Centre who hosted the event.
