Commonwealth Games Leadership Academy Day!!!!

75 Secondary School Young Leaders from around our Partnership came together at our Commonwealth Games Leadership Academy on Monday to plan some new sporting activity back at their Schools.

Designed and inspired by the Commonwealth Games sports, the leaders undertook several workshops throughout the day to develop their skill sets and to challenge them to be better young leaders. The day was a combination of theory and practical before planning what transition experience they would like to drive & deliver back at their school sites.

The 5 workshops were:

  1. LEADERSHIP QUALITIES
  2. HOW TO PLAN AND LEAD PRACTICAL SESSIONS
  3. HOW TO ADAPT PRACTICAL SESSIONS
  4. UNDERSTANDING YOUR PARTICIPANTS
  5. NEXT STEPS/ ACTION PLANNING

The leaders will now be encouraged to take on additional responsibilities back in schools as well as being tasked with running a Commonwealth Games inspired transition day for their local cluster primary school year 6 pupils. We look forward to seeing these come to fruition in the near future.

The academy also served as the starting point of the pathway to extra leadership & coaching opportunities, which will aim to further enhance pupils learning and development around leadership in South Norfolk.

Many thanks to Framingham Earl, Wymondham College, Wymondham High Academy, Old Buckenham and Sprowston for coming along & getting stuck into all the challenges so positively.

Thanks also go to Julia Fairbrother (South Norfolk Youth Advisory Board) Joel Matthews (Active Norfolk), Iain Mills (County Lead Inclusion School) James Panayi (Lead Coaching and Volunteering School) and Kimberley Fearn (Teacher), for running brilliant workshops for our pupils.
