Active Kids Festival

On Wednesday 25th May we held two year 2-4 SSP Active Kids Festivals at Long Stratton Leisure Centre. This was a new event introduced to our event calendar this year and it is one that is set to stay. Both events were a huge success with many happy, smiley faces with ALL pupils having FUN!

This event was an ENGAGE themed event with many pupils in attendance experiencing their very first School Games event. The festival focus was to provide a new opportunity and experience to inspire pupils to participate in physical activity and sport as well as finding out more about the six School Games Values.

Throughout the festival pupils took part in 6 different activities including:

  • Sitting Volleyball
  • Finders Keepers
  • Coconut shy
  • Bullseye
  • Survival
  • Splat the monster

Each station was linked to one of the School Games Values (Honesty, Determination, Teamwork, Respect, Self-Belief, and Passion). Pupils then worked with their school friends throughout the challenges demonstrating the values. All the pupils learnt some brilliant new skills whilst also understanding how important it is to be inclusive so that EVERYONE can enjoy sport together. Each pupil was awarded a sticker on completion of each activity with all pupils trying to collect the full School Games Values set by the end of the event.

A pupils from one school commented

" I have had a great time can I come again”.

A teacher stated:

"This event is great it has been engaging for all pupils and I cannot wait to use some of these ideas back at school".

It was great to see pupils enjoying the event and having fun. A big thank you to Long Stratton High School leaders who delivered and supported the participants throughout the day. Also, a big thanks to Long Stratton Leisure Centre who hosted the event.
