Dynamos Cricket Event

On Wednesday 15th June, we held a Year 5-6 Dynamo Cricket Competition at Great Melton Cricket Club, which was for pupils who are competitive in nature and enjoy performing and competing against others. We had 12 teams from 11 different schools taking part with a focus on the School Games Value Determination.

Pupils demonstrated some excellent cricketing skills whilst representing their schools. The event followed the new Dynamo Cricket format which pitted mixed teams of 8 boys/girls against each other using a countdown cricket format. Every child was given the chance to bat, bowl and field to develop their all-round cricket skills.

Teams were split into four equal groups of 3 teams who played against each other in a round robin format. Once the group stage matches were completed, the teams that finished in the same position in each group formed a Cup, Bowl, and Plate Competition.

Wymondham College Leaders were great at officiating, scoring, and encouraging alongside the Great Melton coaches and Sara Worley (Norfolk Cricket Board). Some great batting, bowling, and fielding on show. All schools had fantastic sportsmanship and encouraged each other with lots of children giving cricket a go for the first time! There were many very close matches with the final in the cup competition only being split by three runs. Congratulations to all teams who took part and to the winners of the School Games Values Awards.

Cup winners- Wicklewood Primary

Bowl winners- Preston Primary

A big thank you for Great Melton Cricket Club for letting us use the facility, and Sara Worley who helped run the competition, as well as the Wymondham College leaders, we couldn't have run the events without you, officiating, encouraging, and helping the children to improve their cricket skills.

The teams from Wicklewood Primary School and Loddon Junior School have been invited to represent the SSP at the Norfolk Dynamo Cricket Finals on Tuesday 28th June at Manor Park in Horsford.

If you child enjoys playing cricket at school and would be interested in participating more outside of school then check out the ECB website for local clubs offering Dynamo Cricket sessions.
