Year 5-6 Active Leaders- Leading Change

Overview of the Programme

Active Leaders are a group of young people who lead the planning and delivery of sporting experiences, thus playing a fundamental role in helping develop the School Games in your school. Your school sport opportunities should be for all pupils in school and therefore the active leaders should be fully inclusive- so that everyone can take part in an activity they enjoy!

Active leaders could be responsible for?

• Working with teacher and other pupils to organise intra-school competitions and school sport opportunities.
• Working with teachers to increase the 60 active minutes offer.
• Promote the bales of sport and role model to peers.
• Youth Vpice- Organising a survey to fidn out what young people think about sport in their school.
• Reporting back to fellow students at the end of the year on what improvements have been made or are goign to be made.

Target Group

Year 5-6. In person training at the UEA Sportspark.

4 sessions available 9th, 11th, 16th and 17th January.

Resources/ Workshops

1. Playground Games (Intra/virtual events)
2. Health and Wellbeing
3. Running an intra school competition
4. Practical Leadership Skills

Tasks Post Training

On completion of the active leaders workshop resources will provided to the schools to run 4 virtual events in school.

Term 3- Skipping challenges

Term 4- Fitness Challenge (Ultimate Warrior)

Term 5- Inter Form/ House sport (In sport of schools choice)

Term 6- Olympic themed event.
